More people arrested over poisoned milk
Baton Rouge News.Net Tuesday 30th September, 2008
In China, a further 27 people have been arrested in connection with the tainted milk scandal.
The total number of people in custody over the issue is now 36.
According to Chinese police, the arrested people are part of national network that offered the poisonous substance melamine to dairy concerns.
The dairy manufacturers allegedly added the melamine to watered-down milk supplies to make them appear richer in protein
Chinese health authorities have recently come in for considerable criticism for allowing the milk companies to go for so long, adding the poison to their products.
Four babies have now died after drinking milk tainted with melamine and another 53,000 are ill.
